Welcome one and all to the Security Fight Club.
First, a little about the site.
Our goal with this site is to spread knowledge about corporate and personal data security. In the corporate space we’ll be talking about the best ways to keep your data inside your company. We recognize that a large portion of data theft these days comes from inside the company. This threat is much harder to block against than the normal threats from the outside of your company.
You can’t create impenetrable firewalls between your employees and your companies data, as those employees need access to that data to do there job. However as a company it’s your responsibility to keep track of that data as an awful lot of it contains your customers personal information.
In the personal space you should have many of the same concerns, but from a different perspective. You don’t really need to worry about someone who is supposed to be in your home stealing your personal information. The theft of your personal data will come in the way of loosing a laptop or a cell phone.
A quick tour of the site
In the column to the right you’ll find some pretty standard stuff. We’ve setup the tag cloud, posting calendar, as well as links to our various products (see the sales pitch below), as well as links to a variety of technical blogs which we think offer great content and are at least somewhat relevant to security, or or at least funny.
Now for the dreaded sales pitch.
This site is obviously being paid for by someone. That someone would be our company Awareness Technologies. We hope, that during your stay you take a look at our products. We’ve conveniently provided links over to the right which will direct you to our various product pages. All we ask is that if our products match what you are looking for either for your company or your home, that you give our products the opportunity to prove them selves.
This pretty much ends the sales pitch that you’ll see on this blog. This isn’t to say that from time to time so won’t see a product announcement up here, because you will. However our goal for this site is community education and knowledge sharing not pushing our products at you every page you click through (we’ve got plenty of sales sites for that already, which we’d be happy to tell you about).
Who’s writing this blog?
Over time there will be a variety of people witting on this site. To being with the bulk of the posts will be written by myself Denny Cherry (mrdenny on Twitter). I work here at Awareness Technologies as the Senior DBA and Architect. In addition handling our databases I also manage our production servers. Since I’m the one who’s done some blogging in the past I got drafted into getting this blog up and running.
As we grow the site, and the content on the blog I’ll introduce others here at the company to the whole blogging process.
